Group Cycling in COVID Times

There is a wealth of advice and guidance on the CUK website about group cycling in COVID times. In fact, there is so much information that it can be daunting to find what is relevant. As a club we have duty of care to our members by ensuring that all our activities are carried in a safe manner. The committee is currently going through the process of generating a risk assessment to cover our activities and appointing a COVID officer to keep up to date with the latest guidance and be the main point of contact for the group with regards to Covid.

In the meantime:

  1. Let the ride leader know in advance if you are intending to join his or her ride. If more than 6 people turn up, then we should consider riding in smaller groups.
  2. Do not join a ride if you have any COVID symptoms or if you have been in contact with someone who has COVID.
  3. Maintain social distancing at start of ride and any time when stopped.
  4. Bring a face covering with you – also for use if close contact with other members becomes necessary – e.g. if you need assistance with bike repairs etc.
  5. If possible, carry out your own bike / puncture repairs. Bring your own tools etc.
  6. Carry a small bottle of hand sanitiser.
  7. When stopped e.g. at a cafe or for a picnic we are no longer an organised sport therefore normal COVID rules apply.
  8. If you feel unwell after a ride, then please let the ride leader know so that the rest of the group can be warned.
  9. People are responsible for their own safety

Remember HANDS, FACE, SPACE

Hopefully things will improve over the next few weeks and these rules will become assigned to history.
