Just a reminder that the day we are offering an opportunity to try a kayak is just over a week away. So far only a few people have expressed an interest and a few others who are interested are away. If you are thinking of joining us, please let us know so that we can make sure we have a boat to fit you.

Wed 28th Run
By heck, ain't the weather been fantastic! We hosted a walking group meet at ours over the weekend and had some gorgeous toddles and views on the Pennines.
But now it's ride time and guess what - forecast seems to guarantee we get nice and wet in substantially cooler weather! So for those of you who revel in such things, meet at ours in Ousby as per runs list. Dripping 11's at Bojangles Appleby then damply on to Orton. Nice touring pace so 2.5 bike grade I guess.
For those foolhardy enough - see you tomorrow....

A day on the water - Friday 6 September
Yes, yes - we know it's a cycling club, but...
Obviously this - as so many outdoor things - is entirely weather dependant and we will blog if conditions are unsuitable to go ahead.
A few people have expressed an interest in trying out our
sea kayaks. We have been thinking about this and have decided the best idea
would be to set aside a day when everyone can come and have a splash around. We
propose to base ourselves at Glenridding Sailing Centre where people can try
out open canoes and sit-on-tops as well as our kayaks and Lance and Charles
have kindly agreed they will take people for a sail.
Sea kayaks can feel very tippy so we would probably start
out 1:1 which means it may take a long time to get through everyone who wants a
go, but there will be other things to do.
There will be a charge for the use of the sailing centre
of at least £5 – details to be confirmed depending on how much of their
equipment we use.
If you are over 5’ 6” or have feet over size 8 please
give us warning as it will affect the kayak you can fit into.Obviously this - as so many outdoor things - is entirely weather dependant and we will blog if conditions are unsuitable to go ahead.
