Main Ride - Sunday 28 th September

Since Karen is unable to lead the ride, I propose to ride to the published venues as follows : -

Start - Dalston to 11's at Cups & Saucers Seaville

Via - Wigton, Waverbridge, Raby and Abbeytown  ( Distance = 20 miles )

11's to Lunch at Maryport Marina

Via - Blackdykes, Pleutho, Tarns, Mealsgate, Westnewton, Allonby, B5300 Coast Road and cycle track ( Distance = 16 miles )

Lunch to Finish at Dalston

Via - A594, Dearham, Row Brow, Gilcrux, Arkelby, Fitz, Blennerhasset, Fletchertown, Wigton and retrace outward route ( Distance = 28 miles )

The total distance is about 64 miles and it is probably not possible to make circuit less than this.

Since lunch is likely to be very late, I may change my lunch destination  to arrive earlier and reduce the long distance back to Dalston particularly as I intend to ride to Dalston & back from home which adds 20 miles to the journey.

Although I intend to do a version of the ride, I don't really want to be the designated leader but would appreciate the company of other riders.

Ride on Sunday 28 September

Sorry folks but as I said this week I am unable to lead the ride this  Sunday.    The plan was to cycle from Dalston to Seaville, Cup and Saucer cafe for coffee and then onto Maryport Aquarium for lunch.  Returning inland via Plumbland.  Anyway, hope you enjoy your day whatever or wherever you cycle.

Hope to see you all soon.

Ride Wednesday 24th

The weather looks fine if a little chilly and all is set fair for a steady ride to the seaside.
Distance 68mi as published with stops at Maes Cafe Ulldale and Bank Mill Gdn Centre for lunch. (Or in the dunes if you prefer to bring your own) Don't forget your bucket and spade!

Parking (if you need it ) needs some care at Catterlen as they are having new drains put in.
Although you can park at the side of the yellow road near the telephone box it might be better to park on the side of the other yellow road under where it says Woodhead Farm and 167.

Sunday 21 st Sept - Main Club Run

The route will be as follows : -

Melmerby to 11's at Brough Village Store via Appleby and Bleatarn ( avoiding dangerous A66 crossing near Warcop ) = 26 miles

Brough to Middleton in Teesdale = 14 miles

Middleton to Melmerby via Alston  = 33 miles

Total distance plotted as 73 miles and ascent plotted pessimistically as 6400 ft.

Lets hope the weather is kind to us.

The ride will officially start from Burneside Church, but as usual there will be parking space for a few cars on our drive.
Total distance will be 71 miles, the first 10 of which will be rather hilly. From Burneside we will be taking the back lanes to Kirkby Lonsdale for 11's and then head for Morecambe via Hutton Roof, Burton, The Kellets and Halton before picking up the cycle track to Lancaster and then Morecambe via the Milennium Bridge. Cathy.
