Club Ride. Wednesday 26Febuary.

The Club Ride on Wednesday starts from the church gates in the middle of Sedbergh and follows a route covering the Lune Valley, part of North Craven, upper Ribblesdale to Ribblehead and returns to Sedbergh via Dentdale. We leave from the church gates at 10am.
Car Parking: Wednesday is market day and so car parks in the centre can be busy. The two main ones are also expensive, £4.50 per day. The village hall car park is also in use. The best options are: 1. For those approaching the village from Kirkby Steven or Garsdale. There is on road parking from the junction of the Kirkby and Garsdale roads to the centre of the village. 2. For those approaching from the M6/Kendal the best option is to turn right after the garage on the approach in the village--signposted Dent and Hawes. This takes you onto the loop road by the school and the playing fields. A short distance after the turn there is a quiet area alongside the cemetery.

Crazy riders

5 brave or should I say crazy souls left Dalston but decided to abandon the ride at Caldbeck.  So apologies for not meeting up with anyone who arrived at Uldale or Cockermouth.  Hopefully my next ride will provide better weather and a great cycle.

Karen

They didn't have rim tapes like this when I was a lad!

Todays ride

I've just heard from Paul C down in Cockermouth who says it is horrible weather with extra strong winds and rain so be warned the route MIGHT not visit Cockermouth.

Cycle Clips

For those of you who get Cycle Clips the two links on "London Falling" are worth watching. Think what London would have been like if Thatcher hadn't abolished the GLC. When did cycle helmets make an appearance ?

What ever you think of Boris Johnson he does write amusing articles.

Main Ride Wednesday 12th

Dallas will lead the moderate ride as planned but the Main Ride will be self-lead unless anyone wants to take the lead. Dallas will distribute a map and route sheet at the start.

Watchtree and The Highland Laddie have been warned that cyclists will be coming. The route was clear last Friday. It is 19. Miles to Watchtree then 20 miles to Glasson going clockwise around 'The Island' - Anthorn and Cardunnock to Bowness and Port Carlisle. High Tide at Bowness is at 11.32 so the road should not be flooded though it is an 8m tide (9.5 is the highest). The return to Dalston is via Boustead Hill Kirkbampton and Great Orton.
