There are very few cafes and none in the right place so bring your own supplies for a stop at Bewcastle. My route will depart from Langwathby at 10 am tomorrow going to Skirwith (apologies for the bit which duplicates Nigel's Wednesday ride) and along the fellside beyond Milburn to turn down to Kirkby Thore and along to Acorn Bank. The return will be up the Newbiggin hill to Blencarn and up to Kirkland (to minimise duplication of the route out) and along the fellside to Melmerby. As I'm not sure about the food provision at Acorn Bank - we know the outdoor cafe is open but it could be very busy and limited to coffee and cake - Melmerby Village Bakery is an alternative/additional cafe if needed. Probably a fairly direct return to Langwathby via Gamblesby turning left at the fork just outside Gamblesby to by-pass Glassonby.

For information, the usual Gamblesby to Glassonby road is thick with mud which I don't expect to be cleared any time soon!

Remember I am a slow rider so please wear plenty of clothes to avoid getting cold!

Looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow - either on my ride or at Acorn Bank,

Alison 07500 564922
alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10362358453531720522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4608564918115777233.post-11814064953671992012024-02-16T17:43:00.000+00:002024-02-16T17:43:28.711+00:003 Bike Ride to Acorn Bank Sunday 18th February
46 mile 3 bike ride starting at 09.30 on Sunday from the bridge at Armathwaite. See the Runs List, just posted category 2 ride from Langwathby to Appleby Hub (to tie into the Club coffee stop) and back via Temple Sowerby. Not a race ride, i.e. gentle pace. Please let me know if you intend to join us (07867 840534) message or phone, preferably message - the phone reception at home is not very good.
Nigel Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07527748078732309504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4608564918115777233.post-32420122248009995212024-02-01T22:44:00.003+00:002024-02-02T08:26:32.423+00:002 bike ride Sunday 4 February

There is a Big Breakfast at Stainton Village Hall. The forecast looks a bit windy but it's not raining all day... I'm planning to leave Langwathby at 10 to arrive for breakfast around 11.30. I am a slow cyclist so people wishing to travel faster may prefer to make their own way there.

Alison 07500 564922
alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10362358453531720522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4608564918115777233.post-10858230344243388842024-01-26T21:08:00.000+00:002024-01-26T21:08:25.926+00:003 Bike Ride Sunday 28th January
50 mile 3 bike ride starting 09.30 hours from Dalston. Obviously that doesn't stop anyone riding out to Morland for the coffee stop but I would check that the cafe is open, they may be similarly disconnected!!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4608564918115777233.post-71065692103865798142024-01-15T11:34:00.002+00:002024-01-21T11:53:59.969+00:00Challenge Ride meeting - we need your help!

The observant amongst us will have spotted from the last committee meeting minutes that we intend to hold an event in early September entitled 'Challenge rides' It will be open to all comers and include a 100km and a 100mi course with support and include the option of being lead by a club member on each course. We did this pre Covid and I am sure with plenty of lead time it could go well. We need to get on with this NOW and to that end there is a meeting for all those who would like to get involved, in Daffodils cafe in Penrith 10.00 next Monday 22nd Jan. If you can't make it to the meeting then please let me know you are interested. We will need different skills from catering through publicity to ride leaders and route planners/checkers. Let me know how you think you can help. Initially I think we will decide where to start from - (last time it was Mungrisdale VH) fix dates and agree what area the route will cover Eden Valley/Lakes etc. and what support we think we can offer so this is an initial ideas session.
Agenda to download plus simple map

Looking forward to getting this show on the road

Geoff

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
