Went to visit Dick at Grisedale Croft care home in Alston this afternoon.
Following an infection, Dick seems to be ailing fast and really does looks a shadow of his former self, bedridden, sleeping most of the day and eating almost nothing. A few whispered words was all he managed, though he does still recall the good days - eg managing to tell me that his longest cycling day was 220 miles.
His friend Liz (ex secretary of Dick's) who cared for him in his Nenthead house for a few years recently whilst he was initially poorly, is in daily contact, given as next of kin and will let me know if & when 'something' happens.
