Start at Wetheral at 9.30 and then the route is as advertised: going north by Irthington and Walton to reach Slack House Farm cafe for elevenses; then continue by Birdoswald and Lanercost to Farlam and Talkin Tarn for lunch (BYO option of course as weather looks pretty good); after lunch continue SW to Armathwaite and return north back to Wetheral. About 43 miles in total.
