Holidays 2019

Now that we have enjoyed (I hope it was enjoyable) most of the holiday period and the meteorological calendar says that autumn has officially begun, it is time to start looking forward and making plans for next year.

I’m afraid I couldn’t look that far ahead when Les was contacting us in June – there was still too much of 2018 to enjoy – but it isn’t too late to join in the fun of the club holiday week.
The club post-Easter holiday is booked from Thursday April 25th to Thursday 2 May at Balmeadowside Country Lodges in Fife, on OS Landranger map 59 GR 317183, to the NW of Cupar. There are plenty of places to visit - lovely fishing villages, including Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem and Elie, dot the southern coast.
The National Trust properties provide plenty  of ride destinations – the ruins of Balmerino Abbey founded in the 13th century to the north-east, the 14th century Kellie castle and gardens, the Renaissance Palace at Falkland and the Hill of Tarvit Mansion and Garden, an example of Edwardian stately living – and I haven’t yet mentioned the many treasures to be found in and round St Andrews where Historic Scotland are custodians of the Castle, the cathedral and various other religious ruins.
The beaches are legendary (Nigel is known to have capsized on one near St Andrews when paddling from Stirling to Perth). And there is plenty to see if you go further afield – Dallas wants to visit the V & A at Dundee.

Last but by no means least, our cycling friends from Perth tell us there is a lot of good cycling in the area.
Cost is around £150 per person and the week is always good value with good company and good cheer.

It’s not too late to join in! Contact Les to go ahead. It will be fun!
Alison
