Socially Responsible Behaviour In These COVID Times

See below copy of email I received this email yesterday which echos what was reported on the news about groups of people (not just cyclists) spending time in parks and on beaches over the weekend. I would urge our members to follow the guidelines and avoid cycling in groups, however people should not avoid cycling altogether as it remains a great way to keep fit and active and is a good way to boost immunity.
We are really lucky to live in North Cumbria where we can cycle mile after mile along quiet roads without seeing another soul!

  1. It's a difficult one, isn't it Bill? I'm sure you were able to reassure Ms Turner that it's unlikely we were the culprits in Arnside at the weekend. However, I'm sure the cyclists who went there thought they were being responsible and seeking out their own quiet places - only to find them not so quiet after all. Will our north Cumbria lanes become more popular? I think guidance/tighter restrictions are going to be inevitable.

  2. I did Mike's route as per route-map provided last sunday and there were only two other cyclists at Orton but as one was getting the other guy's lunch they were in close proximity to each other than strictly should have been. It's too easy to forget how easily the virus can spread! Keep solo and keep safe cycling.
