Wednesday 13 March: three-bike ride; rolling scenic journey with fantastic views

I have shortened the advertised ride, a journey that is full of fantastic views!   The 50 mile route (80 km) has total ascent of 1500 m.  It starts at Under Loughrigg, Ambleside and heads south through rolling Beatrix Potter country to Newby Bridge. Travelling west, we cross limestone commons and river valleys, passing Bouth, Oxen Park, Subberthwaite Common and the River Crake valley, thereupon reaching Broughton Mill.  We head north up Dunnerdale, passing Seathwaite, Cockley Beck and Wrynose Pass, before descending Little Landgale and finishing at Ambleside.

We shall start at 9.30 am, at Grid Reference 371045, at the River Rothey footbidge that connects Under Loughrigg road with Rothey Park, Ambleside. Yellow single line parking restrictions apply to overnight parking.

Soup, sandwiches and more are available at the Newfield Inn, Seathwaite lunch stop!  Morning coffee at either Lakeside, Newby Bridge, Haverthwaite or Bouth (opening time homework required).  The stop ride split is about 25 km, 30 km and 25 km. Cycle time about 5 hrs, plus stops. See you then.
