Ride on Sunday 5th January

This message is advance warning about the club run this coming Sunday.   In the likely event of inclement weather the route will be shortened and there will be a change of  lunch stop.    Abbot's Lodge  will be off the menu replaced by Armathwaite - probably.    When I have a forecast I will update the blog.

Sunday 29 December Ride

Please forgive my flippancy:  the 'rubbish tip' term I used in setting up  the ride refers to the Recycling area by the bridge in Lazonby (now I write about 'recycling' I see I might subconsciously, deliberately [?], have avoided the term).
At the moment it seems that there will be about a dozen of us for the ride, 5 of whom are now meeting at Langwathby at 0920 to ride to Lazonby.  It is not compulsory to do this.  It will not be seen as a way of avoiding this part of the ride at the end of the day, so, if any others want to start at Langwathby, they can.
Look forward to seeing anyone who wants to join in for the whole or any part of the ride.

Just to let folks know I have now permanently deleted my blog about the club clothing feedback.

Hope you all had a jolly Christmas and can get out on two wheels if the present rain and gales ever subside!

Sunday 29 December 2013

Alison and I are thinking of doing a 'moderate' ride on Sunday:  start Lazonby rubbish depot 1000, Melmerby 11s, Appleby lunch and return to Lazonby;  approx mileage 40. Useful for us, if you are thinking of coming, to let us know (though not prohibited if you do not!).  Happy Christmas everyone.

Puppet On A String or Ten

Just been (4 nearly grown ups that is) to Upfront Gallery at Unthank to see Xmas puppet production Pied Piper of Hamlin. Really excellent and the rats, well!  So if you or your Xmas visitors want something a bit different, thoroughly recommend it as I think Parker and Janet have mentioned in the past. Not just for young kids either - even CJ was there! Google to find details.

Wed 11th Ride. Lunch Highland Laddie

Both Wed rides have a changed lunch venue as the Dalston Women's Guild is having its Christmas lunch at the White Heather.
The Highland Laddie does very good "small meals" that aren't that small for £6.
If we let them know in advance they will do sandwiches but these aren't such good value.
If you have food queries you can phone them on 016973 51839

At the moment the forecast looks ok for Wednesday.
Tea and mince pies afterwards at Dalston.

Carol Service

For anyone interested in joining the Veteran and Classic Bicycle Club for their Cyclists'
Carol Service on Sunday 8th I will be leaving the New Dalston car park at 10,  coffee stop at Watchtree then making our way to Rosley Church for 1pm. There will be tea, coffee and cakes at the village  hall at 1.30. Bring you own sandwich if you want more than that!
Hope to see some of you on Sunday.

Recent rides and Sunday 8th

I am sorry I haven't been out recently. Maybe see you at Glenridding on Sunday 8th. Still waiting to hear from someone about the ride on which I spent half an hour on my own in the filling station cafe in Keswick. What happened to the rest of you? hope you had a good ride today, whilst I was working -- booo!
